Mental Health Familiarisation Workshops

Mental health felt somewhat of an enigma to me during my training, a puzzle I loved making but whose final image left me battle an army of questions I was embarrased to ask. So...

  • I learnt the theories.

  • I understood the models.

  • I passed the courses.

Yet, something didn’t fully sit.

There was a quiet gap between what I was being taught and what I knew — from lived experience and from sitting with real human complexity.

To my question addressed to a clinician: “who do you believe?” the answer that “It’s not what they say, it’s how they say it” really shifted my perspective and opened a new avenue to reflect on and research.

The tension that stayed with me eventually, became the foundation of my work.

From it, I created “Sitting at the Crossroads” — a workshop series shaped by:

  • lived experience

  • critical reflection during training

  • integrating theory rather than simply applying it

  • making space for complexity instead of rushing to clarity.

They’re designed with counsellors and trainee therapists in mind, and open to psychologists and other healthcare professionals who want to engage with mental health in a deeper, more embodied way.

Previous participants have shared how validating and grounding these spaces felt — and how practically useful the reflections were in their clinical work.

Places are intentionally limited to keep the group reflective and experiential.

If this speaks to something you’ve been quietly or more outspokenly holding in your own training or practice, you’re very welcome to message me for details or to reserve a place.
